Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a Brit-American sitarist as well as a music producer. She was among the youngest and first woman to receive an award from the British House of Commons Shield she's had 9 Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian of Indian descent to perform live in concert and serve as a presenter at the ceremony. Anoushka Sitar Shankar is the Indian young sitar artist. She is a student and granddaughter of legendary Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982, and was a young girl who travelled from London and New Delhi. At New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years old. Then she moved to Encinitas CA she attended high school, graduating with distinction in the year 1999. Anouskha, who is only 17 years old, has had a successful performing and recording career. She regularly performs together with her dad, and has performed with him for many years. In 1998, she debuted Anourag as her debut single album. The album was titled the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years following. She has performed at most major venues around the globe. Anoushka isn't just a musician. In 2002 she published the book Bapi The love of My Live this is an illustrated biography that pays special respect to her dad Ravi Shankar. In addition, she acted in a the film "Dance Like a Man" in 2003. The role she played was that of as a Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging superstar and her fame will keep on growing. Anoushka Shakar was born in England lived the majority of her adult life in London Delhi. Following her move to California she graduated from her high school. Anoushka Shankar started her musical studies at age nine. After four years she performed her appearance on the sitar in Delhi during her father's 75th birthday celebration. Anoushka's father toured around the world with her and she also gained a variety of experience. When she was still in her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. She was the first woman to win the House of Commons Shield, given by the British Parliament to recognize her musical talent and artistic ability in music and the Asian Arts.
