Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who has achieved great fame with the stories she tells of her young heartbreak. Swift began showing an interest in the music industry as early as age. Swift's career grew rapidly through the play of kids and her first public appearance in the presence of thousands. Drawing inspiration from country music artists such as Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks (now the Chicks) Swift crafted original songs that were a reflection of her own experiences of growing up in a world that was dominated by tweens. When she was 13 Swift's parents decided to sell their property in Pennsylvania in order to relocate into Hendersonville Tennessee so she could devote more of her time in courting the country music labels in nearby Nashville.
